Buhari Reinstates Zakari Biu, A Police Officer Sacked For Releasing Bokoharam

Kabiru Sokoto: Police Reverses Zakari Biu’s Dismissal, Promotes 2 CPs To AIGs

The Police Service Commission (PSC), has pronounced a “not guilty” verdict on the dismissed commissioner of police, CP Zakari Biu, reinstating him to his former position and retiring him statutorily.

This was made known yesterday in a statement by the commission’s spokesman, Ikechukwu Ani in which he said two former CPs, Danladi Adi Yirama Mshielbwala and Ibrahim Idris were promoted to the next rank of Assistant Inspectors General of Police (AIGs). Biu who was dismissed from the Police Force following his alleged complicity in the escape from police detention of notorious Boko Haram suspect, Kabiru Sokoto after a trial, got his reprieve after he challenged his dismissal.

According to Ani, the decision to reinstate Biu was taken during the commission’s 13th plenary meeting held in Abuja where he was exonerated of any complicity in Kabiru Sokoto’s escape.

“The Police Service Commission has approved the promotion of two commissioners of Police to the rank of Assistant Inspectors General of Police. The commission also reviewed the CP Zakari Biu’s appeal against his dismissal, exonerating him and retiring him statutorily.

“These decisions were the high points of the 13th plenary meeting of the commission held in Abuja.” The meeting was presided over by the commission’s chairman, Dr Mike Mbama Okiro. promoted CP. Danladi Adi Yirama Mshielbwala and CP Ibrahim Idris to the next rank of AIG.

“It also exonerated CP Biu from the issues surrounding the escape of Kabiru Sokoto, an arrested Boko Haram kingpin in Abuja,” Ani said.

Kabiru Sotoko was the Boko Haram terrorist sentenced to life imprisonment for masterminding the 2010 bombing of St Theresa Catholic Church in Madalla in which 44 worshippers were killed and 70 others sustained injuries. Sokoto was being led to his house for a house search when he escaped from police officers led by Bui. N50m reward was placed for anyone with information that would lead to Sokoto’s rearrest.

Bui went on military trial in 2012 following which he was found guilty and dismissed from the Force

APC And The Spirit Of Witchcraft - By Femi Aribisala

Both Christians and Muslims must reject outright the strange spirit that the APC, in its lust for power, has imported into Nigeria. On 27th November, 2014, at the inauguration of Rauf Aregbesola as second-term governor of Osun State, Senator Bola Tinubu, National Leader of the APC, asked Nigerians to prepare their charms and other juju powers for the 2015 elections. Present on that occasion were the big guns of the APC, including now President Muhammadu Buhari, former party chairman Chief Bisi Akande and APC state governors.

Why would Tinubu, a practicing Muslim, ask people to seek occult powers in order to prevail in elections? Why would Yemi Osinbajo, a Christian pastor, later associate with a political party whose leadership dabbles in the occult?

Nigerians are a deeply religious people, whether Christian or Moslem. Both faiths believe in the Lord God Almighty. Neither permits resort to witchcraft. However, Hosea warns: “My people are destroyed because they have no knowledge.” Could it be that APC members and Nigerians at large are unaware of the cultist foundations upon which the party is built?

Cultic broom

The broom symbol of the ACN was later adopted as the logo of the APC with the coalition of the legacy parties. Millions of brooms were bought by APC supporters during the 2015 election campaigns, to the delight of broom-sellers. These were then brandished lavishly during the election rallies.

Ordinarily, the broom is a powerful and effective symbol for a political party. In practical everyday life, brooms are used to sweep away dirt. It is therefore appropriate for a political party, especially one in opposition, to use it as a symbol of its determination to sweep away the government in power and clean up the filth and corruption in Nigerian society.

However, the broom is also a witchcraft symbol believed by the cultist to provide the power to rise above the earthly plane and to soar in the spirit realm. In the West, brooms are associated with witches visualized as hags who fly through the air on broomsticks. These witches use their cultist brooms to sweep away their traces to avoid detection. Herbalists use the broom to invoke the spirit of the dead. The broom is used as a gate or door before a ritual space. A witch draws a magical circle, enters it, and then places the broom over the doorway as a means to keep out unwanted energies or people.

Bad luck

There is sufficient evidence to indicate that the APC employed the broom as an instrument of witchcraft and superstition during the 2015 elections. What is cultist about the APC broom is the way and manner it is displayed. The APC broom is held up and not down. It is held above the head and then waved in the air. This gives it a hidden meaning not generally recognised.

In the occult, when brooms are waved in the air, they have the opposite effect of cleaning up dirt; they spread dirt. When waved in the air, brooms pour dirt on our heads. This makes it sinister that the APC chose this very gesture as its definitive slogan.

In this part of the world, it is considered taboo for men especially to raise the broom above the head. To do so is to invoke evil spirits. With the broom raised everywhere during the campaigns, the APC used it to cast a spell on Nigerians. Many are just beginning to wake up from this spell after 100 days of a do-nothing Buhari administration.

In Yoruba folklore, it is a bad omen for the broom to stand erect; it must lie on the ground. The taboo is that if it stands erect, it will be used by evil spirits to bring bad luck. The occult design here was fitted for APC electoral purposes. The party used its cultist broom to sweep away good luck from Nigeria in the person of Goodluck Jonathan. This means its success at the polls portends a bad omen for Nigeria.

Witchcraft mumbo-jumbo says if you sweep out the room occupied by an unwelcome guest immediately after his departure, you will prevent him from returning. Therefore, after President Jonathan and the PDP finished their political rally at the polo ground in Kano in April 2015, the APC Kano State Governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso; his deputy, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, and some members of governor’s cabinet came out with brooms to sweep the grounds. This shows they believed in the cultist powers of their logo and invoked it on the president.
Generational curses

In India, from where APC borrowed this hocus pocus, the mother goddess who waves the broom is called Shitala. This Hindu siren has several hands and is associated with quite a number of debilitating ailments, many not immediately apparent. At first, the broom would seem to meet all of our deepest longings. But, sooner than later, its devastating side-effects would emerge.

The broom is united at the bottom and this would seem to signify unity. However, it is scattered at the top, which spells disunity. With the scattered end waved in the air, the APC broom portends disunity for Nigeria, both at the party and at the national level.

With Buhari now at the helm, Nigerians have witnessed a lot of squabbles within the APC. Attempts to paper over the cracks are illusory. More ominous is President Buhari’s emergence as a sectional ethnic leader. His blatantly lopsided political appointments, designed to make the South a colony of the North, poses great threat Nigerian unity.

This should not come as a surprise. When you employ the broom goddess to sweep away your opponents, she also sweeps away your national image, your honour, strength, peace and independence as a nation .

Bad omen

By electing the APC into power, Nigerians inadvertently accepted the rule of the broom goddess. Unless a conscious effort is made to reject this evil spirit, it will prevail over our national affairs in the next four years. This will bring fruitless hard labour. People will work like jackasses and eat like ants. Holes will be burnt in pockets. Lives will be wasted needlessly.

The broom goddess brings emptiness and restlessness. She provides broken cisterns that cannot hold water. There will be no peace in the country and the people will reject the truth.

Indeed, the 100 days of APC government have been characterized by lies, more lies and broken promises. Nigeria has gone from go-slow to standstill. The currency has declined; the oil price has nose-dived; Boko Haram killings have multiplied. It is increasingly obvious that Nigerians were hypnotized and hoodwinked by the APC in the 2015 elections.

National redemption

It is not enough to claim disbelief in the power of the darkness. Witchcraft is real. If it were not, many would not subscribe to it and appeal to it.

However, cultist power is far inferior to the power of God. This means the occult should not just be ignored; it must be resisted; otherwise its attendant evils will prevail. Therefore, those of us who believe in God must be strong in the Lord and in the power of his might.

Both Christians and Muslims need to fast and pray and take a stand. We must reject outright the strange spirit that the APC, in its lust for power, has imported into Nigeria.

This concept is even documented in the Bible. In Isaiah 14:23 (KJV translation) I will sweep it with the besom of destruction, saith the LORD of hosts. In Luke 15:8 "The Parable of the Lost Coin": "Or suppose a woman has ten silver coins and loses one. Does she not light a lamp, sweep the house and search carefully until she finds it?"

The brooms relation to sweeping away negative energies and use for protection makes it a wonderful tool for magikal practices and rituals. Consequently it wasn't a big leap for European pagans to use the broom as a tool.
.
While being used for clearing an area for ritual work was the earliest use for a broom, it became an important tool for Witch's during The Burning Times of Europe. During this era Witches would use a broom to hide one of their most important tools, the wand. It is also a tradition that brooms have been used by some as receptacles to harbor a particular spirit temporarily. This could be done to remove an unwanted spirit from one area and then release it far away in another place. Or it could be used to utilize the energy of a spirit for a specific spell when the broom is used as a wand.

This early association of broom to tree also associates it with the element of air and therefore has power over spirits. Thus it's common use as a tool for flying. In both historical and modern images a female witch can be found on a broom silhouetted by the full moon behind her.

Buhari Cabinet: Govs Senators, Reps, Lose Power To Pick Nominees

Contrary to what obtained in the last 16 years, state governors appeared to have lost influence to make input into the appointment of ministers.

The governors, especially those elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have found it difficult to penetrate President Muhammadu Buhari to pick their nominees as ministers.

Also, some Senators, who are godfathers in their states, might be unable to install their stooges as ministers.

In deference to the principle of Separation of Powers, there were indications that Buhari may not accept imposition of nominees on him by some leaders of the National Assembly.

But the jostle for ministerial ticket is assuming a hot race in Kwara, Sokoto, Gombe, Enugu, Lagos, Ondo, Ekiti, Katsina, Kaduna, Akwa Ibom, Anambra, and Bauchi,

Investigation by our correspondent showed that apart from deference to party supremacy, President Buhari has largely been his own man in appointing members of his cabinet.

It was learnt that although some governors had attempted to recommend some nominees, the president is insisting on merit.

The same dilemma is confronting some influential Senators and leaders of the House of Representatives.

According to findings, Buhari is sticking to the principle of separation of powers instead of throwing the ministerial nomination open.

The discipline being employed by the president in choosing his cabinet members accounted for the delay in appointing commissioners in some states.

It was gathered that the governors prefer to compensate their loyalists, who may be schemed out of ministerial slots, as commissioners.

A reliable source said: “Unlike in the past, most governors are stranded this because the president will not ask them to nominate ministers. Some of them attempted to make recommendations but did not succeed.

“In fact, the same game is playing out with influential Senators who have found it difficult to lobby for their candidates as ministerial nominees.

“Buhari is trying to be his own man as far as the choice of ministers is concerned. The only thing he reckons with is party supremacy. He also wants to adhere to constitutional provision on the appointment of ministers.

“The governors could not have their way because Buhari has refused to ask for any office slot or favour from any governor, including his own governor, Aminu Masari of Katsina State.”

As at press time, investigation confirmed that the jostle for ministerial slot is keen in Kwara, Sokoto, Gombe, Enugu, Lagos, Ondo, Ekiti, Katsina, Kaduna, Zamfara, Akwa Ibom, Anambra, Bauchi, Niger, Delta, Edo, Kogi, and Adamawa.

Some godfathers in the affected states were said to be panicking because of recent political developments in the country, especially in the National Assembly.

Another source said: “Those who have no respect for party supremacy cannot recommend or nominate ministers. Respect begets respect.

“This is why the president is looking for credible hands whom they cannot disqualify under a flimsy excuse or the other.”

THE NATION had exclusively reported that the president is on the final lap of consultations with some leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

It was learnt that the president has met with some leaders of the party on the shape of his cabinet, those who may be on board and what he intends to do.

But he is yet to unveil his list of cabinet members to the leadership of the party.

It was unclear if the President will reduce the size of the cabinet from 42 to 36 or a lower figure.

Section 147(1-3) directs the President to appoint at least 36 ministers unless the constitution is amended.

The section reads:  “There shall be such offices of Ministers of the Government of the Federation as may be established by the President.

“Any appointment to the office of Minister of the Government of the Federation shall, if the nomination of any person to such office is confirmed by the Senate, be made by the President.

“Any appointment under subsection (2) of this section by the President shall be in conformity with the provisions of section 14(3) of this Constitution:

“Provided that in giving effect to the Provisions aforesaid the President shall appoint at least one Minister from each state, who shall be an indigene of such state.”

Lopsided Appointments: Northern Elders Release List Of Jonathan’s Appointees

A group, Concerned Elders of the North, CEN, has frowned at attacks on President Muhammadu Buhari over lopsided appointments.

The group has also released a list of some appointments made by the Goodluck Jonathan government.

CEN claimed that what Buhari had done was that he had merely chosen people he knew well as his personal staff “which is to be expected of any serious President”.

The appointments made by Buhari include his ADC, the State Chief of Protocol, the National Security Adviser, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) and the DG, SSS.

The group in the list of the appointments by the Jonathan administration, said his government was dominated by southerners.

“The first group of 13 appointees (a minister, the SGF and heads of parastatals) were from the South-East while most of those in the second group of 37 were mostly from the South-East and the South-South.

Till now no arik staff has come to us to enquire as to what the case was and to proffer a possible way forward. Now that really sucks! MI Abaga Reacts As Pained Fan Pens Advice To The Rapper Over Current State Of Choc City!

MI Abaga Reacts As Pained Fan Pens Advice To The Rapper Over Current State Of Choc City!
A visibly enraged fan took to M.I’s Instagram Page and posted a arm length Rant about the Decline of popular Label, Chocolate city.
The fan who goes by the handle “iamking_el” on Instagram write note about the state of the label, their artists and the quality of works they produce and how much they have fallen off the radar.
MI Abaga soon stunned his fans on Instagram when he replied in an apologetic manner, not refuting the claims made by the fan.
He even extended the enraged fan a special invite to the Choc city Executive office in Lekki Lagos.
See post below:
“Please before anyone starts judging . i swear I am the greatest @mi_abaga fan ever. BUT as a true fan I must express my discontent at the way things are going …CBN [Choc Boy Nation] isn’t in control anymore..CBN is more about the administrative aspect of music industry than pleasing the fans. I don’t know any major track from CBN on air currently
…Since you dropped an album followed by the round cake cover all you’ve really done is take nice pictures in cooperate wears.. I don’t understand why you aren’t taking your art overseas like [Ice Prince] @iceprincezamani..

“Are you the new audu[Audu Maikori]??..Is that how you’re going to put the fans aside and chase hierarchy???. The MI I love always had illegal music after the album and Boss we need singles from you..! We know the people that have taken over the industry now and its sad cuz when you dropped that album..those people were silenced. But then you went silent again and I don’t even know what’s up with y’all. @iceprincezamani keeps taking pictures all around the world (I just listened to his “yawa go dey” track)..Jesse jagz hasn’t dropped anything since coming back.. And you, all you do is talk about CBN and milli and dice and koker and all that.. The spark isn’t there anymore “third mainland bridge” is nothing like “nobody test me”
“Illegal music 2 for me is better than TICBN (my opinion)..the album didn’t even get enough hype before release and ice [Ice Prince] spent almost all his studio session singing on the album, Jesse jagz was hot ,you the boss as usual, and@savemilli ?? Yeah oh well he met expectations in his conventional Drake ish wwy. Koker has the Brymo effect but isn’t quite there.. He’ll improve maybe. @savemilli is exceptional but he should also be constantly reminded this is NAIJA..same thing with dice . but truth be said the last BIG thing that came from CBN came some 7 months ago (chairman album).. Since then it has been mere mediocrity and just in case y’all happy and cool with that…as a true fan I’m not!!..I hate to see my team loose.”
“PS I dunno what pryse is doing with her life BTW.”
“I think the CBN has lost its connection to the streets. @mi_abaga @iceprincezamani and @jesused to be that connection..but for a while now it’s been quite on the streets. I see you now direct music videos..that’s a bold step. But directing the video for a track as hot as monkey as your first was too much of a risk and I think it was below par (my opinion).”
“[As] far as this naija streets are concerned you guys have lost that connection. Let more people feel you and all these idiots hailing you on every post won’t tell you the truth but I will. I miss MI. I miss the spark in CBN..we dont know what you’re planning tho but I hope it’s big enough to shut my big mouth up.” (sic)
And MI, who obviously was disconcerted by the many “truths” the young fan wrote, replied him today, with this:
“@iamking_el . You are right my personal music output hasn’t been great. Music has had a tough year dealing with the elections eg when the election was moved, I had to move my concert because of advertising space. The politicians buy everything. Let me assure you that I remain the MI you feel in love with and that I will crush everything. . I have four projects recorded and more music than you know is coming your way. As for the Label CC just know that nothing is built in a day. No label that is dominant now got there overnight and we can’t either. But I am offering you a personal invite to the CC office to come listen and see what we are building. Trust me I will not let you down. Last.. Thank you for caring!! That is all we want you to do.. MI Abaga #CBN #choclife.” (sic)

Obasanjo Foundation Sacks CEO Over Alleged Involvement In Money Laundering

obasanjo warns 360nobs.jpg,.
Anne Welsh, the London-based Chief Executive Officer of the Olusegun Obasanjo Foundation has been fired over her alleged involvement in money laundering activities for many years.
This action was taken following a video evidence obtained by Sahara reporters.

The video footage, which was shot at a United Kingdon meeting in December 2014, showed how Welsh allegedly plotted a $4.9m (N980m) scheme to exploit the Ebola Virus Disease tragedy in West Africa through helping a group of ‘Lebanese businessmen’ who wished to donate money to Obasanjo Foundation for some work in Sierra Leone.
The footage further revealed that the group demanded that it would make a donation of $2m (N400m) to the foundation if it helped it launder the balance of $2.9m.
Welsh was seen assuring the potential ‘donors’ that it would not be a problem as she was a master in the art of being discreet.
“I had to go through training, through president Obasanjo, political training for one year to become discreet,” she said in the video.
“Sometimes, we get dollars from people who give money to our foundation and they say they don’t want it to be known that they donated the money, but they want to have a letter on our letterhead paper and a letter from Obasanjo just to say ‘Thank you for your kind donations to the foundation for the work to support Ebola’. That’s it. That is what we normally do.”She added.
The group, however, told her they did not care how the money given to the foundation was spent as long as their interest was protected.
Welsh then demanded from the group an interest of 30 per cent of the $2.9m. “At least 30 per cent; think about the hard work I’m going to put into this, you will be so grateful to me,” she proposed.
The video evidence also showed that the group agreed to give her the 30 per cent, which was $900,000 (N180m), and detailed how the money would be transferred via a Nigerian bank which she uses.
Obasanjo, told SaharaReporters that he and other trustees of the organisation as well as staff members of the foundation were deeply saddened and disturbed by the allegations against Welsh.
He said the foundation had launched a full-scale investigation into the allegations and  the matter had also been reported to the London Metropolitan Police and the UK Charity Commission for a thorough probe.

Security operatives attached to the Bayelsa State Police Command have arrested a man for stabbing his girlfriend, Rita, to death.
He also attempted suicide by drinking poison.
The man who was simply identified as James was whisked away by the police, yesterday afternoon.
It was revealed that trouble ensued after  James was caught sucking the breast of Rita’s sister, Juliet  at their White House road residence, Agudama- Epie.
Juliet who is breast feeding her baby paid a visit to her sister at her residence and at night when the breast feeding mum was asleep, James allegedly crawled up and started sucking her breast.

Juliet was woken up by this bizarre act and immediately raised the alarm waking up her sister and some neighbours.

Nigerian Troops Recover Video Recordings, ICT Gadgets From Boko Haram Terrorists

nigeri army doctors begin strike 360nobs..
Press Release
As terrorists continue to scamper following relentless pursuit by Nigerian troops, they have often left sensitive materials including arms, ammunitions, ICT gadgets and video recordings behind.
PRNigeria gathered that many of the video materials captured by the troops are currently being analysed by military experts.
Some of the videos included recording of scenes of trials, beheadings, executions, stoning, floggings and those taken during preparations for suicide attacks.
A military source informed PRNigeria that capturing such recordings was another major feat in the battle against insurgency as it was a tool used to really terrify mostly civilian population and cow them into submission.
The source added that “Some of the video were meant for release through their normal channels to the public before they were dislodged from their camps. They also show the barbaric life in their so-called caliphate”
“The media and the public are advised to be careful in handling or sharing sensitive and offensive videos depicting atrocities that some viewers may find disturbing,” the concluded.
Since they invaded Sambisa Forest a few weeks ago, Nigerian troops have liberated about 1,000 women and children from the various terrorists camps already dismantled.
There have been tales of woes and great distress from many of those rescued from the terrorists about their reign of terror and lately of despondency within the ranks of the insurgents.
When contacted on the discovery of video recordings, the Director Defence Information, Major General Chris Olukolade said “A number of vital materials, apart from arms and ammunition, have been recovered which are being subjected to intelligent analyses. We don’t want to say much about that now.”

I’ll Soon Name Those That Didn’t Want GMB To Be President, I’m Not Afraid Of Humans – Oba of Lagos

Oba-of-Lagos
The Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu has confirmed that Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State and his predecessor, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu indeed had a disagreement.
He said this on Thursday, May 8, as the outgoing governor of the state openly apologised to all Lagosians whom he said, might have been affected by different decisions he had taken in office.
Speaking at the Lagos TV complex, Agidingbi during a celebration of Fashola’s 2,900th day in office, the monarch said he did not realize the seriousness of the feud between the two politicians until almost all the Obas in the state called his attention to the development.
That was when according to him, waded in by urging both sides to sheathe swords and also extracted commitment to suspend the animosity in the collective interest of all Lagos residents.
Speaking in Yoruba language, the Oba noted that a majority of those responsible for the feud were also in the audience as they successfully created an industry out of reporting to “Party A” what “Party B” had said about him and vice-versa.

In the same vein, he accused some alleged fifth columnists of working against the choice of the president-elect Muhammadu Buhari, some of whom he said were seated right in front of him.
The same people, he contended, have started pitting the duo of Tinubu and General Buhari against each other the same way they set the former against Fashola.

“People, who are now telling Buhari all sorts of things, are sycophants. They did not want Buhari to emerge winner in the election. These people know themselves. When it gets to a stage, I will name them one after the other. I am not afraid of human beings,” Akiolu explained

Patience Jonathan Is In Congo – Presidency Reveals First Lady’s Whereabouts

The presidency has issued a statement on the whereabouts of Nigeria’s First Lady, Patience Jonathan.
Mr. Ayo Adewuyi, media assistant to Mrs. Jonathan, in a statement made available to journalists in Abuja, says the President’s wife is currently in Congo.
He said Mrs. Jonathan is in the country to join her colleagues from Africa for the celebration of the 30th anniversary a Non-Governmental Organisation, Congo Assistance Foundation, established by the Congolese First Lady, Madam Antoinette Sassou-Nguesso.
Adewuyi however did not indicate when Mrs. Jonathan arrived in Congo or when she is expected back in Nigeria.
He added that his principal was received on arrival by the Nigeria’s Ambassador to Congo Brazzaville, Princess ‎Onipede, in company with top Congolese officials.
The President’s wife has not been seen at any public event inside the Presidential Villa, Abuja, since her husband lost his re-election bid in the March 28 presidential election.
She was absent during the Good Friday and Easter Sunday services held inside the Aso Villa Chapel.
Mrs. Jonathan did not also join her husband for the funeral service held in honour of his top aide, Oronto Douglas, in Bayelsa State last Saturday.
While she voted alongside her husband in the presidential election in Otuoke, Bayelsa State, she stayed back in her home state, Rivers, during the April 11 governorship election.
She had expressed fears ahead of the elections that she would be thrown into prison if Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) won the election.
The Presidency had so far kept mute on her whereabouts, therefore giving room for speculation.
Adewuyi’s statement read, “First Lady, Dame Patience Faka Jonathan, is in Brazzaville, Republic of Congo, joining other African First Ladies for the celebration of the 30th Anniversary of Congo Assistance Foundation, an NGO of Congolese First Lady, Madam Antoinette Sassou-Nguesso.
“The Foundation, established in 1984, has engendered social action in the areas of health, education, skills acquisition in favour of indigent people of Congo.

“Dame Patience Jonathan runs similar organisation ‎in Nigeria, the A.Aruera Reachout Foundation, which also focuses on the upliftment of women and children, the needy and imprisoned.
“The First Ladies of Benin Republic, Senegal, Mali, Tchad, Niger and Guinea Conakry are also in Brazzaville for the grand finale of the week-long programmes, during which a National Centre for Sickle Cell disease was inaugurated.

“Dame Patience Jonathan was received on arrival by Nigeria’s Ambassador to Congo Brazzaville, Princess ‎Onipede, in company with top Congolese officials.”

Blame State Governors Not Jonathan For Unpaid Salaries – Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala

Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo Iweala has absolved the Jonathan administration of blame in the inability of some state governments to pay their workers’ salaries.
It said the governors of such states should be blamed for the development in their states because they were told through the Federation Accounts Allocation Committee to make the issue of wage a priority.
The Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, said this in a statement by her Special Adviser on Communications, Paul Nwabuikwu.
The statement was necessitated by the All Progressives Congress governors’ claim that the negative manner the outgoing Goodluck Jonathan administration was running the economy had made it difficult for them to pay salaries regularly.
But Okonjo-Iweala said that despite the 50 per cent drop in gross federally collectible revenue, the Federal Government had made the issue of workers’ salaries a top priority in order to ensure that the “people do not feel the negative impact of the revenue drop on the economy.”
For instance, the minister said that contrary to the“misinformation being put forward by certain governors to the effect that federal workers are being owed, staff salaries at the Federal level are up-to-date.”
She said in the five paragraph statement that the states, being one of the three tiers of government that receive monthly allocations from the Federation Account, should be blamed for their predicament.
The statement read,“This is to clarify the misinformation put forward by certain governors to the effect that Federal workers are being owed salaries.
“This is incorrect. Staff salaries at the Federal level are up-to-date; workers have received their April salaries.
“Regarding difficulties in salary payments,
certain governors are trying to blame the Federal Government for their predicament. This is wrong. They had been told through the FAAC to prioritise salaries but they chose not to do so, hence the backlog that some states are experiencing.
“The 50 per cent drop in revenues simply means that salaries should be prioritised. The Federal Government should not be blamed for avoidable mistakes made at the state level.”
The APC governors had during a meeting with the President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari, in Abuja on Tuesday, expressed frustrations about their inability to pay workers’ salaries.
They therefore appealed to Buhari to consider a bailout plan for all the 36 state governments after his inauguration on May 29.
They said, “One of the issues that became of concern to all of us is the state of the Nigerian economy which is really in a bad shape.
“We have come to notify the incoming president of the challenges ahead of him. As it stands today, most states of the federation have not been able to pay salaries and even the Federal Government has not paid April salaries and that is very worrisome, by May and June, that (salaries) will be in cumulative of three months.
“We wonder with the huge expectation of Nigerians and people who have voted us into power, we are hoping that the president-elect will do everything humanly possible to bring about a bailout not only for the states but the Federal Government, at least for people to get their salaries and turn around the economy.”
