Why Having A PhD Is A Waste – Bishop Oyedepo

oyedepo_voice_adv.jpg

– Bishop Oyedepo has said that a doctorate degree is only
but paper, except the knowledge acquired is used to impact
lives

– The founder of Winners chapel made the disclosure to
some PhD graduates of Covenant University in Ota, Ogun
state

– Oyedepo lamented over the numerous situations in which
those certified with PhDs, have little or nothing to offer

– The bishop promised to fund projects carried out by few
PhD graduates of Covenant University (CU)
David Oyedepo, the presiding Bishop and founder of Living
Faith Church worldwide, has said that an inability to identify
problems and solve them, renders every PhD degree
useless.

While addressing few PhD graduates of the Covenant
University (CU) in Ota, Ogun state, Oyedepo urged people to
come up with innovations that can solve problems plaguing
the society.

The Chancellor, told them their inability to do so would mean
their research programme was useless.
Bishop Oyedepo promised to make funds available to them
to identify problems and find solutions.

Spoke at a meeting with the young scholars, Oyedepo said
Nigeria has been unable to address its challenges because
of a lack of capacity to get the job done.
He decried situation in which PhD holders seemingly lacked
the thinking capacity.

He said: “I have come to provoke your potential. There is
more inside you than the earned certificate. If you cannot
think out solutions to problems, your PhD is a complete
waste.

“When we say Doctor of Philosophy, we are saying master
of thinkers; someone committed to finding solution to life’s
problems. And until our learning translates to thinking, our
PhD is zero.

“All that we have done going through the rigour of PhD is to
ignite our thinking capacity. It’s so important that we have
what it takes to recreate our country and the world.
” Hinting that Nigeria has more PhDs than four European
countries, Oyedepo wondered why Nigeria was not getting
similar result as the Europeans.

“The gas turbine (at CU) was not working because Shell was
on strike. So why can’t students of Chemical Engineering
build reserves? Why do we look at problems as if we are not
concerned?”
Oyedepo said the scholars must learn to management
themselves, time and task, to be able to provide solutions to
problems.

He noted that the scholars must learn to manage
themselves, for qualitative production.
Meanwhile, Oyedepo has challenged the present
administration of President Muhammadu Buhari to proffer
solutions to the socio-economic challenges facing Nigeria
rather than blaming any political party or individual for the
current travails facing the nation.

He also urged President Muhammadu Buhari to be more
sensitive to issues that affect ordinary Nigerians.

Top 3 Lies Nigerian Women Tell Their Men

In Nigeria, some of the ladies are either too proud or too afraid to clearly state what they truly want to get in a relationship therefore, they end up lying to themselves, their partners and any other person involved.
I narrowed some of these lies to Three in this thread and these are:

1.I Am Not Interested In Your Money: Please, who doesn't need an extra cash for her upkeep and well-being.The lady perhaps makes the above statement so her man will not think she is too materialistic.Buh ladies nothing is wrong in asking a guy for financial support as longs as it is for something useful.

2.I Don't Care If You're Dating Other Ladies: This non-chalant attitude will change when the lady eventually falls in love with the guy or hopes they will get married.

3.I Do Not Want To Tie You Down: This is a big lie because next thing you know, she begins to monitoring your movements like a CCTV and activities through phone calls and incessant house visitation.

I'm also very sure some ladies here will start forming and denying these lies..

God Is Angry With Buhari – Fayose

Against the background of the violence that apparently characterized the rerun elections in Rivers State, Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti State has lashed out at president Mohammadu Buhari, saying that God is angry with him.

According to the governor, the president superintended over elections that were remarkably bloody.

The governor who spoke with Journalists in Abuja on Tuesday chronicled the lists of elections held under the present government, stating that power belonged to the God and and should not be abused by any individual no matter how highly placed.

He said: “I am telling you the truth. Power doesn’t come from anywhere. God rules in the affairs of men. Oppressing, bringing and cutting people down, taking their blood, God is angry. The way this government is taking people down, God is angry. God isn’t happy. Go to Rivers, they kill people.

“Go to Akwa Ibom, they kill people. Go to Bayelsa, they kill people, incarcerate innocent people. God is angry with Buhari. You can’t continue to take the blood of the innocent. Look at my predictions for the year 2016 for Nigeria, everything has come to pass. This is a different ball game. He that will take me, he that will go against me must first of all defeat God. If these were the kind of violence that greeted Buhari’s election would he ever be president?”

Speaking further on the likely impact of the just concluded expanded retreat of the National Economic Council, NEC in Abuja, Governor Fayose stated that the present economic situations in the country indicated that president Buhari lacked technical competence to solve the problem of the country.
Even though he specifically praised the idea, the governor wondered if it would not the just a talk shop.

Alex Iwobi Now Fit, Trains With Super Eagles

The Gunners’ sensation has commenced training with Siasia’s men ahead of Friday Afcon qualifier against Egypt
Arsenal's Alex Iwobi trained with Nigeria on Tuesday evening, shrugging off the food poisoning that sidelined him earlier in the day.

The 19-year-old's presence at the Super Eagles training put an end to reports that he was still mulling an England decision.

However, while the team trained together, Iwobi worked with the team's physio as he tried to build up stamina.

He walked around the pitch a few times before he was put through aerobic exercises and light ball juggling.

Nigeria would hope that the youngster gets his energy levels back in order that he might reprise his recent form at Arsenal.

Iwobi scored his first senior Arsenal goal against Everton in a 2-0 victory on Saturday.

Meanwhile, the Nigeria squad has it's full complement of players on Tuesday except full back Elderson Echiejile who is still expected to arrive.

Blessing Agbomhere: Oshiomhole Will Land In Jail If I Become Governor

– Agbomhere says he hopes to probe all corrupt officials if elected Edo governor

– The APC candidate says its better to be patriotic than to be comrade

– He says he hopes to better the lot of the youths

An aspirant for the September 10 governorship in Edo state on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC)‎, Blessing Agbomhere, has vowed to probe Governor Adams Oshiomole and send him to jail, if elected governor of the state.

Agbomhere, a kinsman of Oshiomole , from Fugar, Etsake Central local government area of the state, made the vow on Tuesday in Benin, while addressing ‎on why he decided to contest in the election.

“I am running, not because I am from Afemi, not because I am from Esan, not because I am from Benin, but because I am from Edo state. I am running because I am from the camp of those that have been deprived of leadership for too long, the youth.”

“My government will abolish corruption in Edo state. That is why the programme we have is to ensure that all our past leaders are probed. Whether they like it or not, we will ensure that whatever they have taken from Edo state, whatever they have wasted from‎ Edo state, they will bring back. And I will start from Comrade Adams Oshiomole  , the present governor of Edo state.

“We will visit all the projects he has done to ascertain how much he has spent on the projects and if we see that Edo state‎ has been sub charged, we will ensure that such monies will be refunded to the account of Edo state.

“We will also visit the Airport road project. We have been getting petitions from different groups and organisations on that projects, how [the first contractor] abandoned the project and left some money unrefunded to the state. We will go into that issue to ensure that we get into the truth of it and if it is true that he did that, we will ensure that he refund with immediate effect, the money into the account of our state. We will no longer allow our state to be killed by those who put their interest ahead of the state.”

Commenting on genuine patriotism to the state, ‎Agbomhere said, “I tell people I am not a comrade, I am a patriot‎. I don’t know the meaning of comrade. In the Nigerian law, we don’t know anything like comrade. What we have in Nigerian law is patriotism. So we young Nigerians should focus our intellectualism, our capacity and our capability in being patriotic to our state, not in being comrade.”

The governorship aspirant also berated Governor Oshiomole for “abandoning the state-owned Nigerian Observer‎ newspapers limited but spent millions of naira elsewhere to printing government letterhead papers and other documents when he needed less than N200 million to refurbish Observer printing press.”

When asked how he hope to get the nomination of his party to fly its flag ‎at the election even while threatening to probe the incumbent government sponsored by the party, Agbomhere said the APC constitution is against corruption, and so he will probe the present government the same way President Muhammadu Buhari is currently probing the immediate past government.

“We are probing because there are so many allegations of corruption against the present government and the allegations are hampering the chances of the party in the state,” he said.

Besides, he said he has consulted widely with delegates of the party, adding that more than 2,600 delegates are already behind him.

“We believe this is our time to take over the leadership of the Edo. We have consulted with Edo people in diaspora. These young people have resolved that it is their time to take over leadership. We have what it takes to build Edo and take it to the next level. This is the time for the change Edo people have been waiting for. I am the new face of that change.”

The governorship aspirant promised to invest heavily in the mineral resources that abound in the state “for the development and engagement of the people of Edo state.

Rivers Re-run: Amaechi Came Noisily, Left Quietly — Wike

Rivers Re-run: Amaechi came noisily, left quietly — Wike

BY JIMITOTA ONOYUME

PORT HARCOURT : GOVERNOR Nyesom Wike on Tuesday lauded President Muhammadu Buhari for distancing himself from the re-run elections in the state, saying he did not interfere with the exercise.

The governor who accused the Minister of Transportation, Mr Chibuike Amaechi of allegedly plotting to rig the elections, said the former governor came into the state noisily and left quietly after results showed he could not deliver his candidates.

Wike spoke in Government House, Port Harcourt while addressing his party faithfuls.

The governor said the will of the people was stronger than any military and police might, adding that some Abuja politicians only came to intimidate the state with the name of Mr President who maintained neutrality all through the rerun elections.
“Amaechi plot to rig the rerun elections was for him to rubbish the Supreme Court Judgement. He came back to the state noisily, but left quietly and shamefully.

“No Army is stronger than the people. No police is stronger than our people. How many times will they cancel elections for the APC. Amaechi is not on ground in Rivers State “.

“Those who were overzealous during the rerun elections did so without the knowledge of the president. “

Justice Kafarati Withdraws From Saraki's Suit To Stop Trial

Justice Abdul Kafarati of the federal high court, Abuja, has withdrawn from a fundamental rights suit filed by Senate President Bukola Saraki to quash the charges of false declaration of assets brought against him by the federal government at the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT).

Kafarati explained that his integrity had been called into question in the matter, hence he would disqualify himself from it.

Having read a report of an online medium accusing him of corruption to the tune N2bn, he said that if he ruled against or for Saraki his decision would be interpreted differently.

“It is only in this country that people can wake up and start calling people names,” he said.

“In the circumstance, I disqualify myself from this case. I will hereby send the case file to the chief judge for re-assignment to another judge.”

In February, after the judgment of the supreme court dismissing Saraki’s appeal to stop his trial, his lawyer Ajibola Oloyede filed the lawsuit asking the federal high court to stop his trial and to disqualify the chairman of the CCT, who is presiding over the trial.

The senate president couched his prayers in the violation of his rights to fair hearing by the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB), which he said did not invite him for explanation before it filed charges against him at the CCT.

Kafarati had fixed Tuesday for judgment on the case, but instead of delivering the judgment, he announced his withdrawal from the case.

Why I Wanted Wike Out Of Rivers –doyin Okupe

Dr. Doyin Okupe, a former senior aide to ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo of Nigeria, Tuesday morning explained why he wanted Rivers state governor, Nyesom Wike as well as Transport Minister Rotimi Amaechi out of the state in any subsequent election rerun exercise.

Okupe, who was also Senior Special Assistant on Public Affairs to Jonathan had said that Wike and Amaechi, who was the governor of the state, as well as their loyalists be moved out because of the level of violence that marred Saturday’s election rerun in Rivers into the state House of Assembly and the National Assembly.
He also demanded the prosecution of all those involved in the violence that claimed up to 10 lives including that of a member of the National Youth Service Corps.

But Okupe’s suggestion did not go down well with some Nigerians who condemned his position on social media, forcing the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain to clear the air on what his intentions were.
“I have seen and read many responses to my post on violence accompanying our electoral process. This is the beautiful part of the social media. It is interactive.

“It is interesting that most of the comments have nothing to do with the killings and loss of lives involved in this mayhem. It will appear that we have come to accept killings and thuggery as part of our national life.
“As Dele Giwa said: ‘nothing shocks us as Nigerians again’. But this ought not to be so.

“For me, I was particularly overwhelmed by the killings and especially the death of the innocent and young ‘youth corper’, just trying to serve his country. I felt highly repulsed and too deeply pained.

“Regrettably, I really did not consider the legal and moral implications of actually moving a state governor out of the state. I truly never intended to undermine the mandate of the rivers people freely given to Governor Wike. I am truly sorry about that.

“My thoughts were mainly focused on what we must do to avert this unnecessary and wanton bloodshed and deaths following our elections nationwide,” he said in a reaction to comments by some Nigerians to his earlier position.

Okupe said he had watched the American presidential primaries in the various states and caucuses and had never seen any police officer close to the various venues even though there must be a winner and a loser.

“Nigeria and Nigerians must move away from this derogatory barbarism and move along with the rest of the civilized world.
“If the violence that marred our electoral process in 1966 is still very prevalent in our elections in 2016, then there is something seriously wrong with Nigeria and the way we are and the earlier we all address this the better for us all,” he added.

In the earlier post, Okupe had indicted Wike, who is his party man, Amaechi, a former ally and now a member of the All Progressives Congress, the Independent National Electoral Commission and the security agents for the level of violence that scaled the election rerun.

He also demanded a stop to the use of NYSC members for elections especially in volatile areas of the country.

“All principal participants must accept responsibility for this intolerable acts of savagery. By all principals I mean the PDP, APC and their leaderships, the INEC, and the entire gamut of our security agencies.
“In 2016, the wanton destruction of lives and properties that accompany our elections in varying degrees is no longer excusable.

“The frequent deaths of citizens, electoral officials, members of the security forces has assumed highly barbaric proportions. Of particular importance is the reported death of innocent Youth corpers.

“As a Nigerian parent whose children will still go through this national calling, I cease this opportunity to call on other Nigerian parents and well-meaning Nigerians to prevail on INEC to stop with immediate effect the deployment of our children for electoral services.

“We can no longer bear the pain of losing our wards to mindless acts of lawlessness by thugs and hooligans acting for and on behalf of reckless, desperate and irresponsible politicians and power mongers.

INEC stands accused in all this dastardly developments. Before going into an election in any volatile area, they ought to obtain full security reports of the area in question and also confer with the police and the army to get written assurance that they can guarantee the security of electoral materials and officers.

He wondered why INEC would still be involved in the movement of electoral materials on election day rather than do this two weeks before the election in company of security agents.

He also suggested that in special volatile areas like Rivers and others as to be advised by police and the intelligence agencies, a minimum of five armed personnels per polling station with availability of standby re-enforcement in each Local Government Area should be considered.

She Caught Her Friend Having Sex With Her Boyfriend, What She Did Next Is Shocking

Stupefaction enveloped residents of Obieruku, in Ukwani LGA of Delta State on Saturday when the Unclad photographs of a 20 year old girl identified as Ifeoma (surname removed) flooded the nooks and crannies of the area.

Ifeoma was said to have allegedly snatched the boyfriend of her close friend and was disgraced by hired suspected female cultists who striped her Unclad inside a forest after she was molested.

It was reliably gathered that Ifeoma, one of the daughters of a furniture maker along Amai road, popularly called Abacha in Obieruku was allegedly forced and striped Unclad for daring ‘‘to sleep with her friend ‘s boyfriend in the area.’’

Trouble stated when Ifeoma was said to have left her father’s house and moved into a friend’s (Faith) abode after a minor disagreement with the father.

Sources said that both friends lived together happily like sisters until Faith’s boyfriend (named withheld) who lives in Asaba visited Obiaruku to see his girlfriend where he met Ifeoma alone in the house.

It was said that one thing led to another and Ifeoma and the said boyfriend became engrossed in an amorous act while both awaited the arrival of Faith.

The man had insisted to pass the night in the house, ‘‘an offer that was gladly received by Ifeoma who had allegedly seduced him with her skimpy dress.

It was further gathered that during the night the loverboy and Ifeoma engaged in a web of fragile romance and love making.

Unfortunately, while they were locked in passion, Faith suddenly bumped into them. In anger she had attacked them and subsequently sent her friend packing.

Reports said that few days later Ifeoma was waylaid by six cult girls on her way home from the church during night fall, stripped and beaten up and her Unclad pictures circulated in the community.

A human rights activists, Linus Okolo condemned the act of stripping the girl Unclad as inhuman, barbaric and a gross violation of Section 34, Sub-Section 1 of the 1990 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Ganduje, Kwankwaso Reconcile After Intervention Of 6 Governors In Abuja

Six Governors of the North West Zone have intervened in the crisis rocking the Kano All Progressives Congress (APC). After hours of deliberations the former Governor, Sen. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje have agreed to work towards a final resolution of the crisis on Wednesday, March 23, 2016....

According to reports, the rift between the governor and senator started just five months after Kwankwaso handed over power to Ganduje, on account of disagreements over cabinet appointments. The Kwankwaso camp accused Ganduje of shutting out their men.

The last straw was after senator Kwankwaso paid a condolence visit to the governor over the death of his mother in Kano... According to reports, Kwankwaso allegedly mobilized political thugs who stormed Ganduje town, brandishing all sorts of dangerous weapons and chanting anti-Ganduje slogans, thereby politicizing the condolence.

This caused Kano State APC to release a statement saying, "President Muhammadu Buhari, and our leader in Kano is Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje. This is the stand of the APC in Kano.”

FY 2015: Sterling Bank Records N10.3b Profit

Despite the regulatory headwinds and downturn in the Nigerian economy, Sterling Bank Plc recorded growth in virtually all its performance indicators for the year ended December 31, 2015, pushing up profit before tax by 2.5 per cent to N11.0 billion.

Similarly, profit after tax rose by some 14.3 per cent to N10.3 billion due to a higher retention of organic capital compared to the previous period.

During the period, non-interest income grew by 13.7 per cent from N25.7 billion in 2014 to N29.3 billion largely due to a 57 per cent increase in trading income, confirming the efficiency of the lender’s management, operating expenses decreased by 1.9 per cent from N50.6billion to N49.7 billion.

Net interest income however, declined by 8.1 per cent from N43.0 billion to N39.5 billion, driven by an 18.5 per cent increase in interest expense resulting in a 630 basis points reduction in net interest margin to 48.9 per cent.

Commenting on these financial results, Yemi Adeola, the Managing Director/ Chief Executive, stated: “I am pleased to report that we sustained our performance from the previous year driven by an improvement in operating efficiency.

“Cost-to-Income Ratio improved by 140 basis points to 72.2%, Capital Adequacy Ratio stood at a record high of 17.5%, while liquidity buffers remained strong as the Bank grew its After Tax Profit by 14.3%.

“Clearly, our 2015 performance offered a clear validation of the underlying resilience of our business model.

“The very challenging operating environment notwithstanding, we managed to and continue to maintain a delicate balance between delivering on near term goals and laying the foundation for the future that we see – one where our customers enjoy the experiences that we create together, which in turn becomes the basis for our long term profitability.

“Asset quality remained resilient with Non-Performing Loans (NPL) below the maximum regulatory threshold of 5% despite a significant reduction in the loan book, arising from the replacement of state government loans with federal government bonds.

“We also maintained a very liquid balance sheet position despite the implementation of the Treasury Single Account (TSA) by the FGN. This outcome reflects some initial progress with the retail funding strategy and further supports the material investments that we are making in this area.

Commenting on the outlook for the 2016, Yemi Adeola observed: “We are of the view that the current macro-economic challenges present their own opportunities for agile and dynamic operators.

“We recognize that re-structuring of the sort that the current Federal Administration is pursuing takes time but like many other Nigerian businesses, we view the pursuit of economic self-reliance as commendable.

“Consequently, we remain optimistic for the future but are not under any illusion that the near term operating environment would be more favourable as we expect some policy volatility in the course of the year. There is clearly ‘a new normal’ and the future will belong to those who can develop new competences even while retaining the core strengths that have led them to success in the past. Our desire is to make Sterling Bank one of those.”

NOUN Admits 20,000, Pledges Quality Education

The National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), has said it has admitted more than 20,000 fresh undergraduate and postgraduate students across its 72 centres nationwide, promising to pursue quality assurance excellence through the National University Commission’s Benchmark for Academic Standards (BMAS).

The newly appointed Vice-Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Abdalla Adamu, who took part in the matriculation ceremony at the institution’s Mushin Centre in Lagos at the weekend, said the initiative would be achieved by reviewing the university’s curricular and streamlining them with approved guidelines in every discipline. Adamu noted that it would take into consideration, new academic narratives that were more accessible through institutional sharing and collaboration around the globe.
Adamu added that the initiative would also introduce and enhance more student-based input on the study centres as well as decentralise examination processing to reduce incidences of missing results and others.
According to him, despite the challenges NOUN was facing, many of them highly exaggerated, it had not deterred young Nigerians who year for quality education from making the bold decision of making the institution their choice.

Egbon 'future Landlord', If You Want To Build Your House In 2016, Come Read This

Okay...so now that you actually opened this, it shows how really interested (or maybe serious) you are in becoming a landlord this year. grin

As a building construction professional with several years of experience in the industry, I have come to see that despite the fact that many people have the sincere desire to become owners of their own home as soon as possible, they also ironically indulge in habits and lifestyles that keep denying them of achieving this golden goal. This often results in many people spending in excess and taking longer than necessary to complete their building projects. One would not blame these set of people due to prevailing economic situations and other responsibilities to cater for, but the reality remains that achieving life goals such as owning personal residence is one of the greatest joys one can have in life.

Industry trend over decades makes it clear that majority of Nigerians would prefer to build their homes from the scratch to personal taste rather than buy from property developers. In fact, those who go on to buy from developers still end up doing major renovations which is usually another capital intensive project on it's own. This shows that indeed, home ownership, like every other property acquisition is a matter of desired taste/quality.

The foregoing brings to mind the fact that the 3 basic essentials that every home builder (be it client or contractor) would want to maximize in every building project are Cost, Quality and Time. As a result of this, I wish to share 5 simple but useful tips below with dear Nairalanders in order help make the most of your home building experience and have the fulfillment of quality execution.

1. Be Sure of What You Want To Build and Stick to The Plan

One of the reasons why some people begin their home project and are unable to finish it is that they never really had a clear idea of what they want to build or live in. It would surprise you that some Nigerians just tell a builder or contractor to come up with a 'nice' plan and start building until they get stuck at a point that where they realize that they do not really like the upcoming structure or they cannot afford the cost implication.

Having a simple and clear building design done by an Architect (which doesnt have to be so expensive) is a fundamental step that any intending home owner must take. This would save the future landlord a lot of headaches as there would be no undue correction which would inflate the building budget.

2. Prepare an Estimated Budget to Work With

It is always a very wise decision to have an budget estimate (or range of figure) for any intended project execution or property acquisition. Apart from the fact that it helps one to set aside the money (or save towards as the case may apply) for the buidling project, there is a guiding sense of expenditure and release of funds as the building project proper goes on.

It is always advisable to get a good quantity surveyor to prepare a Bill of Quantity for the proposed building project based on the Architectural drawings (inclusive of structural and Mechanical&Electrical drawings) depending on the size of the building.

3. Hire Capable and Experienced Building professionals

The construction industry is probably the most infiltrated with untrained and inexperienced people claiming to have capacity to
execute building projects that they actually cannot. The reason is not far fetched : such unscrupulous individuals are just interested
enriching themselves with your money with no true sense of responsibility to deliver you a quality, budget-friendly house constructed in
your desired time frame. It is advisable that intending home owners do some due diligence by consulting trusted friends and family members
who have already satisfactorily built their homes. The membership data base of professional building societies can also be checked for registered
reputable contractors and requests for bids can be sent to them for your project.

4. Ensure That Appropriate Quality and Quantity of Materials Needed are Purchased

A finished building that will be the joy of the owner and envy of neighbours and visitors is as good as the constituent materials used to build it;
right from the foundation to the roof. When it comes to materials used building construction, a good balance of the quality and quantity matters a lot! It is therefore needful for the home owner to ask questions from the contractor/supervisor on the needed materials for every phase of construction and the variety of options available.Ranging from type of sand to be used for foundation or wall plastering, up to the best cement brands and the best types of floor tiles quality in the market up to the best wood grade for roofing, materials have to be given careful consideration before procurement.

I will personally recommend WWW.CRIBPARK.COM to anyone who is currently building or intends to build their house with the best quality yet budget friendly materials available across market in Lagos. I have friends (both home owners and contractors alike) who have used their service to procure building materials. You can call their hotline 08068839618 for further inquiries.

5. Create Good Time to Visit Your Building site (whether or not work is ongoing)

If you want your building project completed on time, you have to set out good time yourself to oversee work progress periodically.
That you have hired someone with experience or very familiar to you as contractor or supervisor does not mean you should be a AWOL
at construction of your own future home. Pay unannounced visits to your site and spend brief but quality time to observe for yourself
how well (or otherwise) work is being carried out on your building site. You can make this is a weekly, fortnightly or monthly habit, depending
on how busy you are per time, the size of the building project or rate at which work is progressing.

I hope you find this piece helpful somehow. I wish you the very best and Godspeed as you get to work on activating your home ownership plan.

Thanks.

My Wife To Be Has Anger Issue. How Do I Curtail It?

Please bear with me. The thread is a bit long. This thread is about me and not my friend. (lol)

i honestly need mature advise from the married and matured folks here.

I am in a very serious relationship with this lady. This is our 12th months together and i plan to propose to her in few months time.

I observe that she has hot temper. Each time we had little misunderstanding she flare up and wouldnt calm down for us to resolve and settle it amicably.

Being a gentleman i believe there are no perfect relationships. Quarrels and disagreements must pop up no matter what.

Yesterday we quarreled due to certain issue we had agreed on. I must confess i caused it but i was quick to realise it and apologise but she wouldnt listen. She made an attempt to call a friend of hers to report the issue. I stopped her. She again wanted to call her pastor too i blocked her hands and was surprise why she is inviting third parties to our matter. She was even voicing it out for people to hear us quarreling and i was calming her down to lower her voice.

This lady is the type every man needs. Religious, good cook, prayerful and she gives me advise on so many occasion.

Her parents are late and she was abandoned by her brothers and sisters due to change of religion. I dont know maybe this affected her attitude.

I myself i have my own wrong sides yet i am ready to accept her wrong and hope she do the same to me. But she wouldnt.

I have talked to her about her anger and made her understand that it is not good for us. Yet yesterdays event surprised me.

Please sorry about the long post. I just need advise or advises about how to handle this issue with my woman.

To add she is 23 and i am 29 years.

Trailer Crushes Tricycle Passenger In Lagos (photo)

It was sorrow and chaos on Saturday along Abattoir Road, in the Agege area of Lagos State after a trailer driver, identified as Emmanuel George, crushed a tricycle passenger to death.
It gathered that Isa Sanni a passenger in the tricycle was crushed to death when he fell off the tricycle onto the road and was immediately ran over by the front tyres of the trailer.
An angry mob nearly lynched the driver of the trailer to death before policemen saved his life. The incident which happened around 2pm caused a traffic gridlock.
An official of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, who witnessed the incident said, “There were two vehicles involved in the accident – a trailer, with number plate, LSR 615 XB, and a tricycle, with number plate, GGE 393 QC.

“The trailer was coming from the Abule Egba area and heading towards the Total area, while the tricycle rider, who had three passengers, rode out from an access road onto the highway.

“The rider of the tricycle ran into the path of the trailer, which hit it. The victim fell onto the road in the process and as he struggled to get out, the trailer’s tyres climbed his head.

“The trailer driver was unaware of the accident, until he heard the noise that somebody had been killed.”
He said attempts by LASTMA to tow away the truck from the road were frustrated by the mob that wanted to burn it.
“There were people everywhere and it took the intervention of the police to prevent a total breakdown of law and order. The deceased’s family members later showed up,” he added.

Wike: No INEC Official Has Powers To Cancel Already Declared Results

Govt ‘has videos of atrocities committed by military’
I wasn’t caught with military uniform, cash, Wike’s aide insists

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has declared that no official of the Independent national Electoral Commission (INEC) has powers to cancel results already declared by the returning officers in the respective constituencies.

The governor was speaking against the backdrop of the insistence by the state Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Aniedi Ikoiwak, that the commission had not released any results other than the nine state constituency and one federal constituency results announced on Sunday.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state has also called on INEC to cancel results of the re-run elections on grounds of irregularities in the conduct of the polls.

Addressing journalists in Port Harcourt yesterday, Wike insisted that no INEC official was empowered to cancel a result already declared by a returning officer and said those calling for the cancellation of the results should do so according to the provisions of the law.

He also disclosed that the state government has compiled videos of the atrocities allegedly committed by the military across the state during the rerun elections, saying that the videos would be released to the public “at the appropriate time”.

He said, “The military-orchestrated violence in the state could be part of a plot by the APC to declare a state of emergency on the state on the premise of heightened propaganda.”

Army Officer, Woman Clash At BEDC Headquarters (photo)

Banji Aluko - Benin City

The vicinity surrounding the Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) was, on Monday, thrown into turmoil, following a clash at the entrace gate at the Benin headquarters of the company between an army officer and a woman, Mrs Joy Agboghide.

According to eyewitnesses, the fight between the army officer, a major, and Mrs Agboghide, was caused by traffic situation in front of the BEDC office due to traffic congestion and indiscriminate parking of vehicles in the area.

It was learnt that the woman, who was driving from the Forestry Road axis, was asked to allow vehicles coming from the off Akpakpava axis pass and after allowing about five vehicles pass she insisted on passing thereby obstructing traffic.

Eyewitnesses also said that trouble started when the major, who had just left the BEDC office, accosted Mrs Agboghide and asked her to reverse her vehicle so as to allow vehicles coming in the opposite direction pass.

It was learnt that the woman declined, leading into fight between the trio of the woman, the major and his wife.

In the melee that followed, it was learnt that teargas cannister was used on the woman, while she retaliated by damaging the army officer's car.

The army officer was said to have retaliated by inviting two army officers within the vicinity, who joined him to beat up Mrs Agboghide to a pulp and damaged her car including the wind screen and the rear screen that were shattered.

Security was beefed up in the area as members of the civil society group and family members besieged the BEDC office, alleging complicity of BEDC in the beating up of the woman.

It was learnt that Mrs Agboghide was later taken to hospital after she first reported at a police station.

A member of the civil society, Kola Edokpaye, alleged that the army officer called upon by the major were those attached to the BEDC, giving the name of one of them as Daniel.

Sources within the BEDC, however, said that the company was not in any way connected to the fiasco, adding that attempts were being made to unravel the identity of the army officer as he did not write his name in any register before he departed the BEDC.

Dakuku Peterside To Be Prosecuted For Murder

Press Statement: Dakuku Peterside To Face Prosecution For Murder

All is now set for the prosecution of Dakuku Peterside, defeated Rivers State Governorship Candidate and NIMASSA Managing Director who on Sunday directed his security details to murder an aide to the Chief of Staff to Governor Wike while fleeing with some result sheets from Ikwerre Local Government Area.

The incident took place at the UTC junction in GRA after Dakuku Peterside instead of taking Ikwerre Local Government Area result sheets snatched from collation officers to INEC office drove with it towards the GRA.

He had stormed the Collation Centre in Isiokpo with soldiers after which he hijacked the already collated results, which included the Ikwerre/Emohua Federal Constituency.

Chief of Staff to Governor Wike, Engr Emeka Woke is a PDP Collation Agent for Emohua Local Government Area. Dakuku Peterside, plays politics from Opobo/Nkoro Local Government Area and has no links with Ikwerre Local Government Area.

After he snatched the results alongside his defeated running mate, Asita Asita, Dakuku Peterside and the soldiers fled towards Port Harcourt. The PDP leaders of Ikwerre and Emohua Federal Constituency followed suit.

At Omagwa near the airport, the soldiers withdrew leaving the SARS personnel from Abuja to take over the electoral theft operation.

At Omagwa, defeated APC candidate for Ikwerre State Constituency, Azubike Wanjoku attempted to murder the LGA Electoral Officer when he used his Armoured Sports Utility Vehicle to ram into the Electoral Officer’s car. The SARS personnel with Dakuku Peterside also opened fire on the rest of the people.
The Electoral Officer was shot.

It was from this point that Dakuku Peterside motorcade in neck-breaking speed drove towards Port Harcourt.

Chief of Staff to Governor Wike, Engr Emeka Woke became a victim as the same SARS personnel with Dakuku Peterside opened fire on the vehicle of the Chief of Staff.

Like in the case of infamous Chidi Lloyd, Dakuku Peterside went ahead to release a false press statement on the issue.

Fayose Dares Buhari On State Of Emergency In Ekiti, Rivers, Says It Won't Work

Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Ayodele Fayose, on Monday said any attempt by President Muhammadu Buhari to declare a state of emergency in Ekiti or Rivers State would be resisted.

Fayose spoke with State House correspondents shortly after taking part in the economic retreat organised by the National Economic Council inside the old Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The governor said he was aware that Buhari was planning a state of emergency in Rivers State over the bloody election rerun that took place in the state over the weekend.

He said he was also aware that the President had the same plan in stock for the people of Ekiti State.

However he said if he went ahead with the plan, Buhari would be thought a lesson that power belongs to the people and not their leaders.

He said, “They have been insinuating that (state of emergency) too in Ekiti. We have been waiting for them. Power has gone beyond the leaders; power has gone back to the people.

“You want to declare state of emergency, declare it and we will tell you that the state of emergency will not work too. This country belongs to all of us.”

Fayose criticised what he called the militarisation of the Rivers rerun.

He insisted that the military has no business in electoral matters.

He urged Buhari to sustain the legacy of free and fair elections which his administration inherited.

“The military has got no business in our election.

“If you watch the trend, PDP has always won all the elections after the annulment. Which means what happened in Rivers is just a service of ego of some individuals who believe they have Nigeria in their pockets and they can call the President at will to deploy the military.

“It is unfortunate that somebody would allow the military to kill his own people.

“I strongly condemn the elections in Rivers and charge that we sustain he legacy of transparent elections.

“For me in Ekiti, we learned from that and we are prepared. We prepare for election every day and we are fully prepared,” he added.

Fayose also said the Ekiti lawmakers currently being detained by agents of the Department of State Services had further confirmed what he described as the rascality of the agency of government.

He said it was unfortunate that the Federal Government would decide to look away and allow innocent Nigerians’ rights to be trampled upon.
